Philadelphia Zoo McNeil Avian Center

Zoological Society of Philadelphia
Philadelphia, PA

The Philadelphia Zoo’s new McNeil Avian Center is comprised of a one-third acre interior exhibit space, including four distinct habitats, a Migration Theatre, and an Adventure Zone with participatory exhibits. The restoration of the historic 1916 Bird House brings it back to its original grandeur. A new greenhouse addition was added, doubling the building’s size. The visitor experience includes traveling to the African savanna; the Islands of Indonesia, Guam, and Hawaii; a walk-through tropical rainforest; and a Central American shade-grown coffee plantation.
